The comprehensive Bettis product portfolio features safe, reliable and field-proven electric, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators
Emerson delivers market leading valve automation portfolio for flow control’s toughest automation, safety and productivity challenges. Safe, reliable and field-proven actuation technologies for pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators, and gearboxes that suit many types of applications and specifications.
API 6D is a specification from the American Petroleum Institute (API) that covers valves used in oil and gas service, as well as those associated with pipelines. The API 6DX standard applies to the valve actuators and mounting kits used with these valves. The combined requirements of both standards ensure that the entire actuated valve assembly is designed to meet the stringent needs of its specific application in the energy industry, with the actuated valve package functionally tested as a complete package.
The API 6DX standard calls for a range of specific design, fabrication, inspection, testing and documentation requirements before an actuator can achieve compliance. It provides minimum sizing requirements for different types of valves, based on application (e.g., shutdown valves, blowdown valves or HIPPS valves).
In order for an actuator to be fully compliant with API 6DX, several certified test results and documents must be delivered with it. In addition, the actuator must have a securely affixed, easily accessible nameplate with permanent, legible markings, including the API 6DX mark. Several Bettis actuators are currently available in API 6DX-compliant configurations.
In case of a power supply failure, a spring drives the actuator to a preset safe position. These devices are extremely reliable and require no separate maintenance.
A self-contained hydraulic emergency shutdown (ESD) system provides reliable valve shutdown capabilities in locations where power is not available or not consistent.
A piston rod and guide block connection prevents side load deflection of piston/tension rods or misalignment due to temperature or loading variations.
A turnkey valve operating package with actuator and fully integrated controls provides the ease and peace of mind of working with a single supplier.
With the spring's tension rod positively locked in place, the spring force cannot be accidentally released, enhancing personnel safety while the actuator is being serviced.
